Cementing process design in MEHRAN benefits the support of a state-of-the-art laboratory to conduct full chain of recipe tests and the quality control tests and analyses implied by the standards. Strict quality control, lab testing of cements and additives is an essential part of the process which ends in tailoring the spacers, chemical washes and slurry recipes. Testing begins at the manufacturing plants to monitor assure the quality of the materials followed by all QC tests on the received pure materials and performance tests of the designed recipes at MEHRAN laboratory to meet the pre-defined objectives anticipated from the slurry. Results of all conducted tests are aids to post-job evaluation. The laboratory, furthermore, tests and re-designs whenever the need for diagnosis or verification rises.

Implementing the case-specific designed programs, software based simulations, interpretation and evaluation of the job results and preparing the end of job reports are routine cementing engineering department tasks.

MEHRAN laboratory is continuously testing and evaluating the additives to maintain the quality and performance of the desired designs for normal and special operations.

Chemical characterization typically involves quantitative or qualitative analysis of the slurry components prior to mixing in order to ensure their suitability for use. Analytical techniques are used for quality control purposes through all the stages of manufacturing, transportation, storage and application. Such techniques are also used to monitor the quality of the mix water on location.

Characterization of cements and cementing additives in the laboratory involves the application of appropriate analytical techniques to provide a chemical and physical description of the sample as a whole or of the chemical constituents of the sample.

Stimulation Engineering Section

Mehran Stimulation Engineering section as the key section and driving force of stimulation department provides significant services for different clients and requests.  The main responsibility of Mehran Engineering team is data gathering and problem well analysis, candidate selection, laboratory studies, research to find latest solutions from different sources for the problem, simulation studies by stimulation software packages; and finally designing case-specific stimulation programs.

Implementing the designed programs, interpretation and evaluation of the job results and preparing the end of job reports are routine stimulation engineering department tasks.

Stimulation Laboratory

MEHRAN Stimulation Laboratory conducts material quality control tests, stimulation fluid recipe tests at surface and reservoir conditions, verification tests and quality assurance as an integral stage of well stimulation design at top line of the standard compliances and field demands. MEHRAN acidizing laboratory serves all our clients with its continuous R&D programs in a dynamic atmosphere. We have been supported by our laboratory to tailor lots of stimulation formulations, especially for South Pars gas condensate wells. Our field-proven solutions enjoy the support of pre-execution verifications and attaining excellence in quality control standards.

Routine tests conducted in the laboratory include:

Raw material QC tests, Function tests of raw materials, Compatibility tests of formulation acid and additives, Performance tests of stimulation fluids, Corrosion tests, Emulsion/sludge tests, Diversion test (SDA & VDA), Core flooding tests, Case-Specific tests.

Our well trained and experienced engineers analyze well characteristics and use advanced predictive modeling to determine the most effective solution to help maximize efficiency and productivity of the operations. We also offer complete data acquisition to provide our clients with a comprehensive record of critical job parameters and to gather feedbacks for further analysis and future optimization. Coiled tubing is not a “one size fits all”. Using a variety of examination methods including force analysis and hydraulic modeling, our engineering team determines exact job parameters such as anticipated coiled tubing reach limitations, and the required pump rates for the job. This enables us to use the optimal coiled tubing size (OD, length), as well as any tools or bottomhole assemblies (BHAs) that would improve or assist job results. As the job progresses, our engineers are always available to the coiled tubing supervisor on location to trouble shoot any issues and recommend the best course of action

Mehran Engineering and Well Services engineers are equipped with state of the art software to provide comprehensive technical support for coiled tubing operations where jobs are designed to optimize the performance of CT string or to design the most appropriate string for a given job using the following models:

CT forces and buckling: calculates drag and helical buckling, determine the maximum set down weight and over pull at a specified depth, and estimate the surface weight as the tubing runs in and out of the well.

CT operating limits: calculates the tubing burst and collapse operating pressures and maximum axial forces.

CT hydraulic performance: calculates and monitor the pressure and flow rate of fluids at any location in the tubing and wellbore.

CT fatigue management: use Reel-Track with a sophisticated fatigue model to design jobs in a way that will prolong the useful life of the tubing string.

Wellbore hydraulics simulator: describes the process involved in using the Hydra wellbore hydraulics simulator, the Cerberus hydraulics model for coiled tubing and jointed pipe.

  1. Heat and noise Radiation (HR) analyses:

The engineering team use advanced predictive modeling software to determine Heat and noise radiations in the worst scenarios of offshore rigs, enhance the safety of the well test environment and provide the most effective solution to guide and help clients in reducing it effects. 

  1. Check data accuracy:

We provide our clients with immediate access to the data coming from the field, in this regard, we use some software to check the accuracy and validity of data calculated by data acquisition system (DAS) onboard to assure all data are correct and truly input in software during the job.

  • Well Test Analyses:

Since parameters such as pressure, temperature, rate, and velocity play a vital role in well test operations, we have to estimate, calculate and analyze them by our software previous and during the jobs to avoid any serious problems.

  1. Research & Development

The last but not least, prepare and present the novel and the safest methods of well test operations in the offshore/onshore fields. These methods will help our clients to diminish their cost in comparison with other routine well test operations.
